FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK

ALL SOULS' DAY
Where did September go? It hardly seems possible that we are already in October. Therefore, I thought it best to look ahead a little bit because before we know it, November will be upon us. Tuesday, November 1st is the Feast of All Saints, a holyday of obligation. The next day, Wednesdaay, Novermber 2nd is also a special day-All Souls' Day. While this day is not one of obligation, it is a special day in our Catholic tradition when we pray the Lord to take all of our deceased loved ones into his eternal home. In addition to the two morning Masses, we well also have an evening Mass at 7:00. At this Mass we will remember in a special way all of those who have died since the beginning of last November. Those who had family buried from St. Anthony's should be receiving an invitation in the mail. In the event that you don't receive on invitation, please accept this note as your invitation. As in the past few years, we will invite a family member or members to come forward when the name of your loved one is called. You will then receive a candle which you will light in your loved one's memory and leave at the altar. Because some of you have had a loved one die in another city, state, or country during the past year, we will also invite you to come forward to light a candle. If you know of a person who was buried from here in the past year and who has no family member to represent them, consider being that representative. Finally, I invite all of our parishioners to join us for this special Mass as a sign of your support for family members as well as a pledge of your prayers for those of our community who have gone to the Lord.
Fr. Dick Mores, OSFS
